Deep Chill: an idle game that rewards you for not playing

Most clicker games are secretly about clicking. You tap, the numbers go up, and the moment you stop, so does the fun. Idle Potato is built the other way round. Its main mechanic, Deep Chill, pays you for leaving the game alone. The less you touch it, the better it does.

How Deep Chill works

Potato earns Chill every second just by lying there, and so do the comfort upgrades you buy. While nobody bothers it, the Deep Chill meter fills up over about a minute. The fuller the meter, the more everything earns, up to three times as much at 100%.

That multiplier applies to all of Potato's passive income: the potato itself, the Cushion, the Old TV, the Cat and everything else. A full meter is the single biggest boost you can get early in the game.

What breaks it: poking the potato

Tapping Potato itself is a poke, and Potato does not like being poked. A poke empties the Deep Chill meter and halves Potato's output for 5 seconds. Poke it again while it is still annoyed and it will let you know.

Tapping the phone is different. Scrolling the feed earns Chill and leaves Deep Chill alone, so you can tap the phone as much as you like. Just leave the potato in peace.

Lazy Skills that make doing nothing pay more

It keeps going when you close the tab

Idle Potato plays itself even when the game is closed. When you come back, Potato is paid for the time away as if Deep Chill had been full the whole time, for up to 8 hours. A report tells you how much it earned.

Two trophies reward this kind of patience: Zen Potato for staying at full Deep Chill for an hour, and Gone Fishing for coming back after 8 hours or more.

How to play it the lazy way

  1. Tap the phone, not the potato, to earn your first Chill.
  2. Buy Autoplay in the Phone panel so the feed scrolls itself.
  3. Spend on comfort upgrades in the Stuff tab, using the ×10 and Max buttons.
  4. Leave the game alone and let the Deep Chill meter fill.
  5. Come back later, collect your report, and buy the next upgrade.

Why a game about doing nothing?

Idle games are supposed to be relaxing, yet many of them still reward whoever taps the most. Idle Potato is a cozy idle game for people who would rather check in now and then. There are no energy timers and no account, and the game is free to play in your browser on a phone or computer.
